His practice focuses on patent preparation, prosecution, portfolio management, and opinion work. He also prepares trademark clearance opinions and trademark applications. Chuck represents individuals and businesses, start-ups through large, multi-national pharmaceutical companies, in their pursuit and enforcement of patent rights throughout the United States and worldwide. He advises trademark holders as to if a domain name infringes on a trademark and if the trademark holder has a claim to a domain name under ICANN's Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy and the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act. His first exposure to internet law was counseling Arizona clients as they selected domain names in terms of their registered trademarks or in selecting a unified brand presence with a combination of trademark clearance and selection conjoined with an internet presence. This was before Congress recognized the clash between the internet and trademark rights and passed the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act. Chuck was also involved in one of the earliest lawsuits in which an Arizona court construed the Uniform Trade Secrets Act (UTSA) in Arizona. Additionally, Chuck managed portfolios at a major Chemical / Oil company and a major medical device / pharmaceutical company with many hundreds of patent families in each portfolio.
